# One corner is twisted

Everything is solved except one corner, which shows its colours rotated. Or you're stuck on the last layer and one corner just won't line up.

> 3D demo, One twisted corner: no sequence of turns can fix this

## Why turning can't fix it

Every turn twists the corners so that the total twist always adds up to zero. One corner twisted on its own breaks that rule. So the cube was physically twisted, often by a loose cube catching on a fast turn.

## How to fix it

1. First, if the scanner reported this, check the three stickers of each corner on the Check step. A misread sticker is more likely than a twisted cube.
2. If the cube really is twisted, find the twisted corner.
3. Grip it between thumb and finger and twist it firmly back. On most modern cubes the corner clicks round.
4. On a stiff cube, turn the top layer 45° and lever the corner out gently with a fingernail. Push it back in the right way round.

## Common mistakes

- **Twisting it the wrong way.** Twist it so its colours match the centres next to it. That's one twist one way, or two the other way.
- **Running algorithms to fix it.** No algorithm can. Twist it by hand.
